How this estimate is calculated

The calculator adds the selected trimming allowance to measured lawn area, divides by the supplier’s coverage per roll, and rounds up to whole rolls. It separately rounds the roll count to full pallets.

Rolls = lawn area × (1 + waste %) ÷ coverage per roll; pallets = rolls ÷ rolls per pallet

Sod and turf formats vary widely. The default imperial and metric roll and pallet sizes are editable planning examples; always replace them with the quantities from the local supplier.

Sod Calculator FAQs

How much extra sod should I order?

Five percent is a practical starting point for cuts and irregular edges. Curved beds, many obstacles, or an uncertain measurement can need more.

How large is one sod or turf roll?

There is no universal size. Metric turf is commonly sold in one-square-metre rolls by some suppliers, while North American sod dimensions vary. Enter the supplier’s stated coverage.

Why is full-pallet coverage higher than the roll estimate?

A pallet-only order rounds up to the next complete pallet. If the supplier sells individual rolls, use the roll count instead.

Should I round lawn measurements up?

Measure each simple section carefully and add them. The waste allowance then provides a visible, adjustable buffer rather than hiding extra area in the measurements.
